mount olympus is the highest mountain in greece, located on the border between thessaly and macedonia, about 100 km away from thessaloniki, greece's second largest city. mount olympus has 52 peaks. the highest peak mętikas, meaning "nose", rises to 2,919 meters high (9,577 feet). it is one of the highest peaks in europe in terms of topographic prominence. mount olympus is noted for its very rich flora with several endemic species. in greek mythology the mountain was regarded as the "home of the gods", specifically of the twelve olympians, the twelve principal gods of the classical greek and hellenistic worlds.

mount helicon is a mountain in the region of thespiai in boeotia, greece, celebrated in greek mythology. with an elevation of 1,749 meters (5,738 ft), it is located just off the gulf of corinth. in greek mythology, the mountain was celebrated by hesiod because two springs sacred to the muses were located here: the aganippe and the hippocrene, both of which bear "horse" in their toponym.

the underworld is ruled by hades. it is located beyond the western horizon. you can reah the underworld by ship from circe's island, and later on, the ghosts of suitors who have died are herded here by hermes psychopompus. he herds them through the hollows of the earth, beyond the earth-encircling river oceanus and the gates of the sun to their final resting place in hades.

europe is, by convention, one of the world's seven continents. comprising the westernmost peninsula of eurasia, europe is generally divided from asia to its east by the water divide of the ural mountains, the ural river, the caspian sea, the caucasus region and the Black Sea to the southeast. europe is bordered by the arctic ocean and other bodies of water to the north, the atlantic ocean to the west, the mediterranean sea to the south, and the black sea and connected waterways to the southeast.
